Специалист в области магматической петрологии , геохимии магматических процессов, смешения магм, региональной геологии и геодинамики. Основные научные достижения связаны с геодинамической и петрологической типизацией производных ультрамафит-мафитового магматизма севера Байкальской складчатой области, а также с расшифровкой последовательности и условий формирования крупных гетерогенных гранитоидных ареал- плутонов (на примере Западного Забайкалья).
