The main scientific interests: studies of paleo- and modern geodynamics, paleomagnetism and petromagnetism. The most significant scientific results: (1) the petromagnetic model of the oceanic lithosphere based on the petromagnetic properties of the modern oceanic crust and ophiolite complexes; (2) the direct proof of the validity of the Vine-Matthews hypothesis and its applicability to the Paleozoic oceanic crust; 3) establishment of the terrane nature of geological complexes in the Koryak upland from the paleomagnetic data on the rocks; 4) Geodynamics of Paleospreading, the monograph published jointly with S.A. Kurenkov and V.A. Simonov: the comprehensive analysis of the paleospreading complexes of the Ural-Mongolian nappe-fold belt (A.D. Arkhangelsky Prize awarded by the Russian Academy of Sceinces); (5) the first reliable paleomagnetic data on the Paleoproterozoic of the Siberian craton, which obtained under his leadership. His current studies are focused on paleo- and modern geodynamics and the deep structure of the Sikhote-Alin and the adjacent territories.
